Debbie Neal, the Owner and Founder of The School of Protocol, understands the relationship between confidence and success. Q. Are there any secrets to remembering the name of a new acquaintance?

 

A. Be sure to repeat the person's name as soon as you hear it.  Try and incorporate the person's name into almost every sentence, rotating beginning the sentences and ending the sentences.  The repetition will help you learn their name and is a powerful tool in getting their attention.

 

 

However, this realization didn’t come to her overnight. In fact, Debbie learned this lesson at a young age when she was taught how to eat “continental style” with a knife and fork by her German grandmother. She discovered that simply holding her knife and fork correctly – and comfortably – in her hand made all the difference when it came to success during dining. Although she was just a child, her grandmother’s influence made a lasting imprint,

 

In 2005, Debbie decided to put her “comfort and confidence equal success” equation into practice and become a certified instructor in etiquette. In 2006, she officially launched the School of Protocol in Memphis, Tennessee and began offering classes for children, adults and corporate groups to help them succeed in social and business occasions with comfort and confidence as their guides.
 

Debbie is certified by the American School of Protocol in Corporate and Children’s Etiquette and believes that when individuals are aware of the proper rules of etiquette, they have the skills, confidence and comfort they need to succeed. Comfort and confidence equal success – and are the keys to outclassing your competition. This formula has worked for Debbie for years, and it can work for you, too.
